How does the Disney Dining Plan work?
The Disney Dining plan can be a bit confusing, so let’s go over how the Disney Dining plan works. There are three levels of Disney Dining plan- Quick Service, Disney Dining and Deluxe Service. Listed below are how they each break down.
Update: Disney added a new dining plan option February 2020. Click here to learn more about this new dining option.
What is the difference between the Disney Dining plans?
-Disney’s Quick Service Dining Plan, which includes two counter
service meals and two snacks (popcorn, ice cream, soda, etc.) per person,
per night, and one refillable resort drink mug per person. Taxes included, but not gratuities.
-Disney’s Plus Dining Plan, which includes one table service meal
(including character meals), one counter service meal, and two
snacks (popcorn, ice cream, etc.) per person, per night and one refillable
resort drink mug per person. Taxes are included, but gratuities are not.
– Disney’s Deluxe Dining Plan, which includes three meals (including
character meals) and two snacks per person, per night, and one
refillable resort drink mug per person. Taxes are included, but gratuities
are not.
Dining plan details
- Dining plans are based on your nights stay not on your number of park ticket days. This includes from the time you check in (check-in is usually 3pm, but you can check-in online early and hit the parks which would begin your dining plan) until midnight the day you check out.
- You can use your credit on any day and in any order you wish. They are broken down to show you how many you have per day, but on the start day you get the whole pool of credits to use as you wish. However, the credits still must be used in the category i.e. you must have table credit for table credit restaurants and quick service credits for quick service restaurants.
- Your credit total will be on the bottom of your receipts so you can keep track of what you have left.
- Character dining requires table service credits and some character dining and other upscale dining options require 2 table credits per person. You can find this below in the Dining Plan restaurant participation PDF. It will show if they serve breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner. If there is a 2 next to the name it requires 2 tables credits.
- Kids must order off of the kids menu.
- The refillable mugs are good for use while at your resort but, can not be refilled in the parks. (You can still take them into the park, but you have to pay to refill them)
- If you have extra dining plan credits at the end of the trip you can load up on snack items like Mickey rice crispy treats to take home to give as gifts or eat on the plane.
Click this link to see restaurants that participate in the dining program. They are categorized by quick service, table service, character dining, signature dining, dinner shows and where they are located. If they have a 2 next the restaurant name it means they require 2 table service credits PER person.
*Gratuity is not included in the dining plan.
