Reasons to stay on Disney property

When planning a Disney vacation your first step is figuring out where to stay. I often get the question why should you stay at a Disney Resort? So, let’s take a look at a few reasons to stay on Disney Property. There are many reason, but I will highlight a few here.

  1. Total immersion in Disney! You will be all Disney all day. And who wouldn’t love that! This includes Disney decorations, Disney’s amazing cast members and of course the possibility of some Disney pixie dust.
  2. Special perks such as early and late magic hours. This lets you enter the park earlier or stay later than guests staying off property. Giving you extra time to ride and to have a smaller crowd for rides which have hard to get Fastpasess.
  3. Magical extras for onsite guest only. Some of these include free mini golf, ESPN World Wide of Sport vouchers and discounts for Bowling, restaurants, shopping And more!
  4. Free shuttle buses to all the parks and Downtown Disney. In addition there are ferries, boats and sky liners to select parks and resorts.
  5. Free MagicBands which you can use to enter the Disney Parks, purchase items, open your door, tap at Photo Pass and FastPass kiosks.
  6. Disney Dining plan options. This is an added purchase, but you are not eligible for any of The Disney Dining plans if you stay off property.
  7. Amazing pools and slides. Each resort has their own take on pools, but they all have one thing in common.. they are all awesome! My favorite is the slide at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campground. And the value resorts have large fun character statues like Mickey’s Fantasia. So no matter what Resort you stay in your can’t go wrong with the pool options for a break from the parks in the middle of the day or a wind down at the end of a busy Disney park day.
  8. Proximity to the parks. You not only have great free transportation to the parks, but depending on which resort you stay in you can have amazing views of Disney’s Magic Kingdom. This includes watching the nighttime fireworks complete with the coordinating music. This is great for the nights you are not in the park or your little ones just couldn’t make it to the finish line.
  9. One of a kind resort options. Disney offers some of the most unique resort options available such as The Contemporary that has the monorail running right through the middle of it which takes you directly to the transportation and ticket center. Do you like animals? What about waking up to a safari? In select rooms at Disney’s Animal Kingdom you can wake up to giraffes sticking their head into your resort balcony. The Boardwalk Inn is locates in the middle of Disney’s Boardwalk with shops and Restaurant. In addition to being walking distance to Epcot, Hollywood Studios and Disney’s new Skyliner. These are just a few of the magical resort options Disney offers.

Pro tip: If being in the hustle and bustle isn’t your thing, check out Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campground. It is so beautiful and serene and a great place to take a deep breathe away from the Disney parks. You can camp in a tent, RV or in a cabin. However, this is a very popular resort and books up fast, so book early!
